This was Claremont's first "Mansion" community, and was predominantly developed in the 1980's. All homes in this neighborhood are custom built, with many of them between 3,000-6,000 square feet, and situated on large, mostly 1/2 acre lots. In the past 15 years, several "newer" homes have been built, with the majority of them being large Mediterranean influenced homes. This neighborhood is located in Northeast Claremont.
The neighborhood is characterized by attractive rock gutters that run throughout the community, as well as the Blaisdell Ranch Preserve, which is a passive neighborhood park featuring turf areas, natural plantings round the perimeter and a decomposed granite walking path. The neighborhood does have an HOA, with low monthly dues, mainly to maintain the preserve.
Claraboya was the first hillside development in Claremont. Located in the most Northwestern area of the city, the neighborhood climbs up Mountain Avenue and enjoys some stunning views of the city, and the hillsides to the west. The neighborhood was developed beginning in 1962, with most of the homes in "Claraboya Proper" being built between 1962-1970, and characterized by their mid-century modern architecture.
In 1970, Claraboya was expanded by the Armstrong
Brothers, adding two additional streets, as well as the High Point Condominiums. 43 single story condominiums were designed by Howard Wellington and were built in a series of three tiers. They have a view of the Pomona Valley, and community pool. The units are between 1,500-1,600 sqft with 2-3 bedroom floor plans.
Located in the north/west edge of the city, Piedmont Mesa was, at one time, the Town of Piedmont and the original location proposed for Pomona Collage, the first of The Claremont Colleges. Most of this single-family residential neighborhood was developed in the 1950's and early 1960's. Homes are predominantly single story ranch style properties on sizable lots; over 10,000+ sqft. This beautiful neighborhood has a lot of trees, and is peacefully situated away from any commercial business.
Towne Ranch is a very highly sought after neighborhood in Claremont. Its location is highly attractive, as it is centrally located within the city, and is a convenient distance to a top rated elementary school, the Village, and grocery stores.
It is a custom home neighborhood that was developed between the early 1950's and through the mid 1960's. Many of the homes were built in the Ranch style and predominantly single story, thus the neighborhood adopting the Towne Ranch name. The neighborhood has an almost "Village-esque" feel to it, and is often sought by Buyers as an alternative to the competitive and high priced Village real estate market.
The neighborhood features a large number of trees, making it just as beautiful as it is conveniently located.
The most sought after real estate in Claremont. Homes in the Village are commonly referred to the homes south of Foothill Boulevard, east of Mountain Avenue, north of Harrison Avenue, and west of College Avenue. The homes in this neighborhood are all custom built, and range in style from Craftsman, to Spanish, Tudor, Cape Cod, and Ranch. Most of the homes in Village Proper were built between 1900-1940, however there are some, though rare, that were built pre-1900. In the 1940's, many "Ranch" style homes were built in the northwestern region of the Village. Beautiful trees flood the neighborhood, with many streets each featuring one particular type of tree that will line the sidewalks. The neighborhood is desirable for it's unique character homes, it's timeless charm, and walk-ability to the Downtown Village shopping and restaurants.
The Claremont Colleges border the eastern edge of the Village, but blend seamlessly into the neighborhood and feel as much a part of the neighborhood as the homes do.
